Microchip Shortage = no more HK until Christmas

Got a call from the dealer today that my G20 on order is going to be built without The Harman Kardon system if I want it before Christmas, due to the microchip shortage. Looks like BMW also missed the boat on extra microchip orders. Oh well, it's not going to be my main car, but still annoying considering I have no idea how „bad" the regular HiFi system sounds....

They're also pulling drive assistance pro from orders in the UK due to the same reason.

Update They are not pulling driver assistant pro for higher end models in the UK; e.g. M440i.

HK remains part of my order and Tech Plus package. I haven’t seen any further bulletins. I believe that again the higher end vehicles are being protected by BMW, whether that is morally justified, I cannot say.

That sucks, especially if you really wanted the HK option. The Hi-Fi is not too bad if you ask me. Far better than the standard in my 4 year old 4 series GC. Does miss a bit of bass vs the HK that I had in the new 1 series, but not enough of a deal breaker I'd say. But it is each to their own

Just a note: I ordered an M340 around May 15 which just started production today that included HK audio. VIN assigned and it looks like the audio upgrade is still there.
