To LSD or not to LSD

Can anyone comment on whether it would be better/worse for tracking?

Is it really a no-brainer?

Thanks!

More important on some tracks than others. If you're getting tons of inside wheelspin on corner exit, then an LSD would help.

As your sig says though, focus on the driver. Spend that ~$3000 on more driving schools would be my advice.

Leftcoastman thank you. You being an instructor, have you felt the need to do this mod?

Unless you are tracking a ton...leftcoastman is beating me on the shear number of track days this year...an LSD is not needed. I think leftcoastman robbed a bank or something to afford all these track days.

I am an instructor..and I wish I had an LSD at Infineon raceway..there are 3-4 corners that it would have really helped in. As it is..I have to wait..and wait ..and wait..before I hit the throttle on turn exit. Gets annoying at times when I am playing with my fellow instructors in Stage 3 Audi S4s..where they have all wheels turning..and their exit speeds are way better than mine..since I have no LSD helping me.

Actually I prefer robbing liquor stores. Banks generally have all sorts of cameras and alarm systems. While liquor stores have them too, they are less sophisticated.

And I can pick up a handle of whiskey while I'm at it. Saves me a trip later.

On East Coast, instructors need only take care of their lodging and food, and of course their travelling expenses and gear! Same out West?

-Tires last me 8 days: So about $100 a day
-Brakes last me about 5 days: So about $100 a day
-Gas is about $60 a day
-Lodging say $100 a day
-Food is $30 or so
-New underwear from riding with Mr. I-know-how-to-change-lanes-really-fast-on-the-405freeway-so-i-am-now-Schumaker.....about $15 or so.

Even with everything else covered, it ain't no cheap hobby!

Yes I think a LSD is a no brainer. AWD+big power+3LSD is even more of a no brainer.. (i am feeling like i should have gone for a STi/EVO instead of a 328 today)

I like the underwear part, ha ha....Priceless! Brakes sounds steep though! Couldn't they be had for about $200 a set? such as cool carbons (have no knowledge of its performance though)?

Unfortunately I'm going to be running fancy schmancy brakes where the pads are $$$.

Hawk HT10 for the stock calipers should be about $200 a set.
