Nürburgring Nordschleife

Just got back from The Ring.

We left Denmark VERY early in the morning on October 4th and arrived 900kilometers later at the Nürburgring at 13.00 hours cet.

The track was closed to the public due to a race until the evening. It was Ferrari weekend so more than 1000 of the horse logoed cars...

great pictures. What are the requirements for getting on the track? Money + attending a class? It's all open passing right? I'm sure that a point-by would be appreciated, but the fast car has right of way I assume?

I just noticed, they let you drive with windows up. Definetly not america.

For tourist-driving your car just has to have a licenceplate and be road legal by German law. Your pay around 21 Euro for a lap i think. (I have only bought multi-lap passes so Im not sure)

You can only overtake on the left and if you are driving slowly you have to stay on the right hand side of the track. Its a bit scary but unfortunately you dont need to attend any classes or driver courses to get on the Ring. I think that this may be a part of the reason for the many accidents.

A safer way to get on The Ring is to attend a track day or driving course like Scuderia Hanseat. Its more expensive but also a lot safer and with much fewer cars on track more giving and educational too. The Brits have many track days and are always cheerfull and more than happy to let "outsiders" attend their track days.

Its an E30 M3 with an M1 procar/E24 M6 hybrid engine producing around 650 hp...

Carbon everything and no look-at-me showroom styling. Only parts that matter...

As the photo says:

www.tecofsracing.com

The car was driven by Fabian Sigwart. A Very nice chap indeed. He actually offered us a lap but sadly we missed it...

I was there this past Sunday... got passed by a modified CRV among other vehicles... it was a very humbling experience... and I was really afraid of wrecking the new car... didnt want to turn out like this guy..... it's really amazing how different it is racing on a track as opposed to driving on a regular road. makes you wish you had better suspension and racing tires like alot of the people running on the track at the time. have to say the x drive really saved me on a couple turns on the track. couldn't take many pictures either while driving, but it definitely was an experience!

you brits sure do represent there... i'd say about 1/2 of the people running on sunday were british dudes/girls... i was expecting tons of germans, but they were mostly on bikes.... nurburgring is super fun, but lots of people thinking they have more skills then they actually do.

It seems like all it does is rain in Germany

We hit the ring a few weeks ago and of course it waited until the second I pulled on the track and it started pouring. It was OK, but definately not the experience I was hoping for on a dry day.
