Tranny makes pop noise going into Park/drive on incline

Hi everyone,

some background: 2006 330i with AT. Recently just had head replaced due to tapping noise at engine start up.

So, this sound existed before the head swap, but its louder and somewhat more noticeable now. Here's the descript.

When I pull up on an incline (ie my driveway), not a very steep incline at all, I put the car into park and you hear a "pop" noise coming from the tranny when I go from D to P. Putting it back from P to R does the same noise!

Dealer states that they cannot duplicate the issue, and that if it is happening on an incline, then apply the e-brake before moving to P. Tried this and it still does it!

I've owned many, many BMWs, all lived on my driveway for more just a few years (e28, e30, e34, e46, e36, and now e90). Only one i have ever noticed this in is this e90!

anyone else expereince this? I mean it is somewhat annoying and not very BMW like. I don't want to destroy the tranny.

-mike
