Need a coilover miracle

So I got new dampers to do a rebuild on my BC coilovers. The drivers side went smoothly, but the passenger side has been hell.

The strut body is frozen onto the damper. The lock ring is loose. I heated the body with a torch, no luck. I drilled a hole thru the old damper and inserted a punch to give me something to whack... still no luck.

I gave up and ordered another shock body from BC. Just got the email that they're backordered until mid August.

So that leaves me on a tough spot. Order a whole new set or work a miracle on this one.

Anyone have any suggestions to get these apart?

Its been soaking in pb blaster, pretty much willing to try anything at this point. You can see the threads have been clamped in the vise a couple times

Contact any of the other branded variants to see if they have shock bodies in stock. D2, Megan Racing, Feal Suspension, CKS, Fortune auto are some. A search on eBay may turn up some others.

They all use the same supplier. One of them may have an F30 compatible shock body on hand. Worth a try.

If all of them get their F30 stock made to order then you are likely stuck with the same wait time Bc gave you.

I was going to suggest trying Kroil vs the PB Blaster.

That's a good idea! They probably are all the same if they use a 53mm collar.

I got in contact with BC today, they didn't have a whole corner available, as that is also a mid august backorder, due to needing the lower mount. However they were able to dig me up a used lower mount they are going to send me for the price of shipping. Crisis averted... Great customer service!

I'm not sure, maybe Grainger. Just checked they don't have it, we use it at work, I use it at home now too. I like it better than PB Blaster.

Ok, I gave you incomplete info, we just call it Kroil at work, it's actually Kano Aerokroil Penetrating Oil, sorry about that, Amazon has it!

I ordered up a 16oz can. A lil pricy at $30, but if it avoids another situation like this it's well worth it.

On an unrelated note, UPS 3-Day shipping is a scam! I don't understand how you can call something 3-day if it takes 6 days. I paid extra to get my package at ground speed 🤨

Would have went with fedex 2-day for an extra $10 if I knew. Gotta rent a car now 😠

Yeah, it is a scam since it means nothing anymore...3 days plus how long it takes them to prep your order. It is a bit pricey but it does work great. I just used Kroil successfully on a corroded furnace fan collar that was locked up tight.

Those shipping estimates never count the time it takes for the shipping company to receive the package. How long did your merchant take to give the package to ups?

Package was picked up same day. The big delay was It sat in Nashville from Friday morning to Monday morning.

Missed the sorting cutoff then. Theres also many platforms designating a printed label as "shipped", So it can get confusing. COVID hasn't helped anyway. I had an amazon prime package show as delivered through usps, but appear in our mailbox a month later.
