How many trips to dealer in a year?

Just wondering approximately how many trip you guys make to dealer for fixing some kind of issues or regular service.
I have the car for not even 3 months and I already went there 3 times.

July08 - Low milage Oil change
Aug08 - Issues - 12V sockets not working and other minor issues. During this visit they updated the software to 30.0.2 and added lag to my car.
Aug08 - BMW Assist setup. SA told me this needs to be done at the dealership only

Now I have started getting squeaky brakes since yesterday. So I have this brake and lag issue for which I need to take the car.

I mean this will 4th visit in less then 3 months. Pretty soon I will have 2 pages of repair history. This really sucks for a almost 50K car. I used to own Acura and Lexus before and only time I took it to dealer was for regular scheduled maintenance.

I am first time BMW owner and love the car but with all these issues not sure if I will buy it again.

What's a "low mileage oil change"-that would seem a personal preference, BMW recommends 15,000 k or 1 year changes. So that doesn't count.

I get the 12V sockets not working (no comment on the update lag introduction).

The BMW Assist setup should of been done at delivery but sometimes needs to be redone. That's minor. Not sure what your squeaky brake scene is but others are complaining about this as well.

I've been twice (other than for having a look around the lot & some coffee) for a front end oil leak repair. I say that they are are cars (albeit nice cars) and occasionally need to be serviced. Take the loaner and some cookies and trust the bugs will be worked out.

Good luck.

I bought my car in May 2007 and how many times have I been to the dealer since?

1. December 2007 - Some clicking noise from the driver side/dash area and it was fixed. Dealer found coins that may have slipped behind the center console through the cigarette lighter area. One of my tires was losing air and dealer fixed it.

2. May 2008 - Low mileage oil change & Ticking noise from engine bay. Dealer did the bleeding procedure and the noise was back in about 10 days.

3. July 2008 - Ticking noise from engine bay. PUMA case was opened and cylinder head was replaced.

4. Sechduled for this week - Service due (15,000 miles) warning.

So, it was once in the 1st year and thrice in next 5 months.

1 year oil changes are the low mileage oil changes that BMW recommends. So, I don't believe that is a personal preference.

I've had my car for 8 months and been to the dealer twice:

1. The car had a recall (or so the dealer told me) as soon as I got it in December 07 so I brought it the week after buying it. It was software related.

2. Oil leak in the chain tensioner.

I still need to take it for a problem that I have with the Bluetooth/Radio.

Going to the dealer for a low mileage oil change (either an out of warranty break-in oil change or at the warranty recommended interval) doesn't count as far as I'm concerned. You drive a car and it needs the oil changed just like it needs to be fueled and the windows washed.

If the OP is complaining about the number of times he's taking in his bimmer to the dealer then he can't count the oil change. That is not a problem with his car.

Other issues that he reports like electrical, connectivity and squeaks, believe it or not they happen. It's a car.

If those problems upset him then I will allow him to not purchase a BMW again.

Car is 10 months old. Has been at the dealer's about 8 times

All of them unscheduled.

1st time Seat was moving, multiple rattles not fixed
2nd time Seat moving fixed, multiple rattles not fixed
3rd time Window was rattling not fixed
4th time Window rattle fixed
5th time Weird noises from Engine not fixed
6th time Weird noises were bad alternator - got stranded - flatbedded to dealer - they fixed it
7th time creaking from seat not fixed, seat damaged
8th time seat fixed. sunroof rattle not fixed

About to go in for 9th time to fix the sunroof rattle (replacing parts).
Also, bunch of new rattles appeared. Some old ones as well.

This will make the average almost once per month. I wish I could dump this POS.

Dam Undecided, you either really hate small noises or may be a tad overweight! Cut the burgers and maybe your squeaks will disappear too! All in good fun mate!

Had my car since mid-March. Haven't been back to the dealer yet. I did do a 1200 mile oil change at an independent BMW shop though. Right now I'm getting a bit of a driver's set creak now and then and I think my clutch pedal spring needs to be lubed - makes a bit of noise. Other than that, the car's been perfect.

I don't think it's me, it's the crappy plastic they put around the seats

p.s. I do hate noises and this car has more than even a crappy Mitsu/Chrysler I owned in the mid 90s.

had my car for 9 months
zero trip to dealer
mainly used for going to school back and forth
(drove to NYC from Michigan during its break in, which I think is pretty good for my car)
now, not enough miles for my first service and my oil level is still on maximum, lol. never lost even a drop of engine oil.
mine is a MT. I always keep the rpm between 2k and 3k
since I finished the break in, I usually push it to the redline approx. once every two weeks(actually it depends on my mood)
there was a minor problem, when I drove on bumpy roads, there was some un-usual noise. but it's gone for no reason after about 2 weeks.

Damm, at least Im not alone on this one.... regret it every day now..
Had it for 12 months now:

1st time rear parcel rattle, not fixed.
2nd time HPFP went bad, fixed.
3rd time rear parcel rattle, not fixed
4th time squeaky brakes, rear rattle, new brakes and rotors, fixed
for a week, rear rattle not fixed...
5th time passenger side seat noise, brake squeak, new seat
mechanism installed, fixed, brake squeak not fixed.
6th time rpm going up and down, rear brake noise, software
updated rpm's fixed, rear brake noise, guess...not fixed.
7th time oil change, rear parcel rattle, rattle not fixed.
8th Low MPG's and squeaky brakes, everything normal they said.
9th time ticking engine noise, brake noise and parcel noise,
wastegate actuators replaced, fixed but now its back,
brake noise not fixed and parcel shelf rattle noise not fixed.

Contacted BMWNA because this is nuts...

10th time is tomorrow and will see what happens... my first BMW too and most likely the last one....

I've had my E90 335i for 15 months now.

Unscheduled dealer visits - ZERO*
Scheduled dealer visits - One, annual low mileage oil change
Scheduled non-dealer visit - one, 5,000 mile oil change at indy shop.

*I did have the driver side mirror motor replaced because it had issues, but this was done concurrently with the low mileage annual oil change. That has been the only problem I've had with my car. No squeaks or rattles, the car has ZSP and I weigh about 250 fully dressed (I'm pretty big, and I carry a lot of stuff....)

The only thing that would make me happier with my E90 is if it said "M3" on the back!
