Is this normal for windshield tint?

So I had my 335 tinted recently and had them put a strip of tint on the front windshield. A few days later I noticed the tint had a purple hue from the outside, and a normal black hue on the inside. My question is, is there some kind of coating on the windshield that would prevent tints from looking normal? Or is this a problem with the quality of the tint? I’ve seen other e90s with this strip of tint and they looked perfectly fine. My window is a pilkington btw. Thanks

I have windshield visor tint as well. It looks like regular tint, no purple hue.

I'm going to lean towards quality of the tint. The older a tint job gets, due to UV exposure, it usually does start to purple.

Going purple that quickly may be showing that it is already not holding up to exposure.

The difference between your e90 and the other e90s you've seen with the tint is that you have a better windshield than them.

It looks like you have a bmw climate comfort windshield which has a purple hue to it to help block uv rays from the sun it also helps keep the car cooler during the summer as well as protect your seats from uv damage.

I had it on my previous 335. Here's a pic of an e92 with one

Did you use a "chlorine" type window cleaner on the inside of your windshield?

Thanks for the replies guys. That’s good to know. Any way I can apply tints or anything and not have it look so bad? Not sure if the installer used a chlorine based cleaner. Thanks

Probably not... but most tints will turn color if you use a chlorine (ie windex) on them.
