Break in service?

For all my previous cars, my dealer always told me that I needed to bring my call in after 1000 miles. However, when I bought my 328xi, nobody in the dealership tell me anything about it. BTW, I dont really want to buy my car from this dealership anyway, but I have no choice.

So, my question is, do I need to bring my car in for service after 1200 miles? or I only need to bring it in after when I reach 1 year or 10,000 miles?

Thanks.

Well first off you should re-read your manual.

You should bring your M3 (not sure if your talking about a 328xi since it says thats what you drive) for a pre 1,200 mile service. Its pretty cruicial that you do this and not wait until 10,000 miles....and again, read your manual more carefully.

You'd like to think that your 328xi is an M3 don't you? Well reality check here: it isn't!

As long as there are other dealers you have a choice. Some people drive hundreds of miles to get their car from another dealer. Where are you?

And yes, you do need the 1200 mile service, at least for the M3. The break-in oil for example is different from the post-break-in oil, for example. It needs to be changed. There are other things needed too, plus you get the service department to fix any little niggles or bugs the car had when you picked it up.
