USB retrofit in place of Telematics Fakra port
Met up with jedi-knight83 today and promised to post pics of my USB install in place of the Telematics connection in the rear heater panel.
Essentially I have replaced my Telematics kit with the BMW wireless charger which has freed up the Fakra cable, allowing me to add a USB port in the back so the kids can charge their phones as I don't have a rear cigarette lighter socket. So the heater panel comes off very easily by prizing the sides open with a trim tool. -The black plug with pink clip is the Telematics aerial. -The blue plug is the Fakra connector that the wireless charger doesn't use. -The black multi pin connector is the 12v feed for the Snap In phone cradle. This photo shows the USB socket I used. It's the same one used for the glovebox USB, but I wanted one in the back. You can see that the blue Fakra plug has plenty of reach for the USB socket. The finished article. It doesn't look much, but was really necessary. Well, the kids tell me it was

The thing is, does it actually charge the phones? They only put out around 0.5A which wasn't enough to charge my iPhone XS so I had to install a PD fast charger port!
