All Season Tyres or Winters?
Hi guys,
Anybody got experience of running all season tyres against a dedicated winter? My F31 320d S Drive is due a new set of tyres. It’s a shadow edition so has 19” 704Ms and M Performance callipers, so i can’t get anything smaller than a 18” wheel on the car. I’d rather avoid the outlay of buying a second set of alloys and leaning towards swapping the worn Bridgestones for Michelin Cross Climate + I ran Conti TS850 and Pirelli Sotozero’s over 10 winters on my old E91 on 16” steels so know the benefit of running a focussed winter tyre not just in snow, but in lower temps too, just keen to hear anybody’s experience with an all season and whether they have regretted not just going for a winter set? |

I found the cross climates to be good enough all year round on my old E90 320d. You only need better in winter if you are somewhere like up the highlands of Scotland, and you only need better in the summer if you track the car and push it to its limits.

We run cross climates on our e87 and they are fantastic, yes you loose that 10/10th performance of a dedicated summer/ winter tyre but as a daily is a decent compromise.
Not sure Michelin do them in oem 19” sizes |

Bugger, you’re quite correct. They only offer the rear!

Cross climates are easily a match for an average summer tyre and better than a budget summer tyre. |
