Log into ConnectedDrive -> Remote Cockpit -> Status -> Map Update.

The link for the MAC & PC is there.

It's free for the 1st 3 years.

I wish! Just bought a 2.5 old BMW and told by both dealership and connecteddrive that I have to purchase for £79 PA!

luckily for me, connected drive was a gift (at £99) so I didn't have to pay this time around. The car had 2014 maps on so only recently updated to NEXT 2019-2 early August i think. downloading the 2020 one now.

I found to my surprise this morning that I've had the 2019-3 OTA update.

This is the first OTA update I've ever had in 23 months (slight caveat being that I've never waited too long before doing a full download manager update).

The thing that surprised me was that there was no visual indication of it happening whereas I seem to recall in the past people saying there was a % complete type indicator for the download process. Maybe it just depends on which I Drive version you have - I think mine is ID6.

Just remember most OTA updates are only the UK map packaged smaller (I found this with my 2019/2 OTA) you still need to do the Update Manager route for the full UK/Europe map set. Yes it's a ball ache but never sell yourself short you paid/pay for these updates so make sure you get all of it.

why are some people seeing 2019-3 and others 2020-1?

I assume since this is the UK forum we would all have the same maps?

We don't all have the same satnav system. Pro and business nav units with different screens for example. Then there are older cic systems, nbt systems etc. It's not as simple as 'we're all in the UK'.

Off the top of my head we have Premium, Motion, Route, Next, Way and Evo maps.

Indeed. I'll do the full update at the weekend but even with our relatively good broadband it takes a fair while to download.

Yeah, Road Map EUROPE EAST Next 2020-1 is available and downloading as we speak.

I purchased, an annual Manual Map Update last July and this will be the 3rd update I received and I hope I'll get one or two more. Not bad for around £80, but I'll be sure to look out for any future Black Friday deals.

On longer trips I'll always use Waze or Google, but it's always nice to have to most up-to-date version of maps on iDrive that you can access on the move.

Apologies if you already know this, but the East maps are mainly for driving in Eastern Europe. They only have the major roads for West Europe and not full coverage. Next Europe maps have been split between East and West since 2019-2 I think.

I wasn't aware and thanks! I'm currently running 2019-2 and therefore the above makes sense.

That said, even the major roads for West Europe will be welcomed (rather than showing me driving through a field at 70MPH on a new M1 Slip road)

I had not long ago downloaded 2019-2 on USB , so will check again.
(I have over the air updates but that will only update GB maps. If you want the Europe update it has to be done over USB - and you need a 64gb memory stick, 32gb is slightly too small)

The download itself isn't too bad. However, when you include the approval phase, unzipping, saving to USB and then the update to your car via USB; it can take a good few hours!

I've just put 2019-2 on mine. 2020-1 isn't available yet from where I get my maps
