Standard Scope

What a total con this is. My service is due (minor so just an oil change), "we'll check your key sir - oh it needs a pollen filter not just the oil change."

Me - I did that last week. "ah ok sir we won't replace that".

"However do be aware that you will also need 'standard scope' otherwise the service indicators won't be reset so I can get you a quote for that".

Me - er get lost I can do it myself in less than a minute. Maybe check out youtube and see how many guides there are.

I had similar when I got mine serviced last year.

I just wanted the most basic of services to maintain the full BMW history to avoid any potential problems with the warranty

Had to have a pollen filter otherwise they said they couldn't even record it on as serviced on the central computer, let alone the idrive.

Only good thing was that over 4 years old the servicing is cheaper despite it being exactly the same as a newer car.

Sounds like the carbon copy of the conversation I had at Snows Portsmouth last week. Walked away and said I'd rather not have the idrive updated than pay £70 for a paper filter that costs £23 quid aftermarket and 10 minutes of my time. Best they could offer for oil and microfilter service including standard scope was £198 which was literally just not charging for the standard scope.

Mugging people off for £219 when the car just needs oil is a surefire way to never get business, and I wonder how many people just assume a microfilter is the oil filter when booking. Tellingly Snows don't offer just an oil service on their website, you have to have booked it through the main BMW UK site...

Use a good independent specialist that can upload & log the services on the BMW Munich server and update the i drive... no problem There's few few around.

Yeah they were obviously trying to add money especially as there was a deal online for the oil service for 129 quid instead of 180 odd. Nice try guys but 129 is all you're getting out of me!!

I understand you can get you car serviced at an independent using OEM parts and still keep the warranty intact, but does the same apply with the insured warranty (if that's the correct name) once the car is over 3 years old?

Yes as long as the independent is VAT registered and uses OEM parts.

Have you considered doing it yourself? Costs around £60 to £80 depending on what engine you have and takes about 20 mins.

Lol! Just picked it up, booked via Bmw website special offer at 129. They said it’s 291! The oil and filter was over 129 quid! Nice markup anyway they had to honour it so I’ve basically just paid for the labour! Happy Friday lol!

But holy moly 291 for just and oil and filter change on a 335d that’s taking the mick! Would never ever pay that.

On a side note they had an M340i in the showroom, blimey I see they’ve not fixed xdrive stilts!

Yep, con :

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1651550

Booked the Standard Scope.
Paid for the Standard Scope.
Technician sent me a health check video (health check was part of the Standard Scope).
Service desk didn't know anything about the health check video.
Service logs hadn't been updated in iDrive.
Fault codes hadn't be read (part of the Standard Scope).

It's a joke.

I read somewhere that the m cars are now on m xdrive suspension, think that might have been the m5.

If they can make that work I don't get really why they can't do the same with an "m lite" car.

Ho hum.... I guess @lorcans services are still going to be in demand then

G20 xDrive models are sorted like the G30/31. Can come with lowered M-sport suspension (10mm).

Quote:
In addition to a vehicle lowering by 10mm, the standard M Sport suspension of the BMW M340i xDrive Sedan comprises M specific elastokinematics and the new lift related damper control function. The Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers is also optionally available.

Another element of the M Sport suspension – which now also applies to the all-wheel-drive model variants of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan – is a 0.4 inch lower ride height.

Heh, thanks Pete...

I think it's probably a subjective thing and I suppose I'd need to see one in the flesh.

Im not sure that it would overly bother me too much to be honest and whether I'd even notice unless someone specifically drew my attention to it.

The rear wheel arch wasn’t too bad, but the front was

I’m on standard 335d adaptive and don’t really care about that sort of thing, just noticed it wasn’t really any better!
