First Time BMW !

Hey, thought i'd say hello. been browsing these forums the last few days for some insiration and tips. looks like a great place!

I've just purchased used 335D F31!!

I have a quick questions, the tyres on it are the Pilot Sport 4 but offside tread is 7mm and nearside is 4mm. Do you think i should replace the 4mm's ?

Here a quick pic of it after BMW cleaning (had new wheel bearing replaced under warranty :\)

Welcome, car looks stunning and shiny. My concern would be why there is uneven wear on the tyres and as a general rule I would change both tyres at the same time.

Thanks! I hope to keep it that shiny...
I can only assume the previous owner liked to go round roundabouts fast and scrub one side of the cars tyres

I read/heard somewhere that there shouldn't be that far different in mm between the tyres for the xdrive?

I've heard the same as well about tyres and the xdrive system.

I reckon the previous owner had to change one a bit sooner than planned, perhaps a puncture.

I would carry on as you are and if you get any drivetrain issues I'd then look at swapping, it won't just break without warning.

Having owned an X5 40d believe me I've read a lot about tyres and Xdrive systems.

thanks, puts my mind at ease a little. What would be the signs that it may be causing issues?

It's worthwhile to learn when the last wheel alignment was done.

Very sharp car!

Thanks!

For my peace I had the tyres replaced and full alignment done too. Car feels completely different (in a good way).

Full set of Pilot Sport 4s on it now with loads of tread. Looking to get some AC springs on it next. Then remap when warranty is out.

One of the last good looking BMWs looking stunning there.

Enjoy!

Hope you kept the 7mm tyres in case of emergency... or to sell on? That’s nearly new tread depth...
