Can I set iDrive to turn off sooner?

Hello Bimmerpost,

This would be my very first post ever. I recently just bought a 2019 330i and this is also the first BMW that I've ever owned. Had it for about 3 days now and so far everything has been awesome.

I notice that every time I unlock my car and I get in, iDrive is already running with a screen that says "Welcome" and the digital cockpit is already on without me touching the start engine button. I sat in my car for a good ten minutes waiting to see if the screen will eventually turn off on its own, but it just stays on.

I apologize for this noob question, but doesn't this use up the battery life if it stays on like that? Is there a way to set it so that everything will fully turn off after a few minutes?

I'm afraid if there is a day where I'm waiting for someone in my car and I'd like to just sit in it without using up any of the battery life. Again, I'm sorry for asking such a dumb question as I feel this is something that is easily fixable. My previous car was a Infiniti Q50, and the 330i technology is faaaaar more advanced than I expected.

I don't have my G20 yet so I'm just repeating what I've read on the forums.

Idrive turning on when unlocking doesn't sound uncommon. It presents the user with all the multimedia abilities. I believe you can manually turn it off by holding (pressing) the volume knob. As far as I know bmw I'm pretty sure it would eventually turn the systems off to save battery and or alert the driver about the battery getting low.

If you step out of the vehicle and lock it, it'll turn it off. Mines actually now for some reason after driving it for a week or so (maybe it's 'learning' as the BMW Genius said) once I shut the car down and open the door, it turns iDrive off automatically without me having to do anything.
