Quote=Vegvisir http://www.deviantart.com/view/11249237/

Ready to go to the front, 1942 BMW, 1941 Mercedes and 1941 Dodge truck.

(This is a photo taken at one of our WWII reenactments, the members are all collectors and history buffs, Not a political group!) We had 2 teams, (The 10th Mountain Division, US) and (The 5th SS Panzer Division, Recon Unit, German)

My wife's father had one of these old BMW cycles (without the sidecart). We have a photo of him riding on it. I will try to locate a scanner and upload in the next few days

He was in the Russian military and brought it back from East Germany, some time during the early days of the cold war.

You also have the option of taking a digital picture of that photo with no flash if you can to prevent reflraction of the flash. Thanks for posting JackMac!

Here it is. This photo of my wife's father was taken in 1950 after he returned from East Germany. I have no info on the specifics of the BMW bike. You can see the roundel emblem on the gas tank.
