Audifest08

Hey S4to335,

Is this gonna be a HPDE? Or, is this a no holds barred track day? Or parade laps?

http://www.audiclubna.org/component/...iew/extid,232/

The Golden Gate Chapter is hosting a Driving School from October 3-5, 2008, Audifest08, at the Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, CA.

I was talking with an Audi buddy and he's jealous of the BMWCCA. I want to shoot him info on a HPDE where he won't fill intimidated by driving a vastly inferior german vehicle. :-P

Two days of track...first half day for beginners will be car control exercises in the paddock...(slalom/threshold braking/lane toss)..then two sessions on track the second half of day..and four sessions on day two. This is NOT parade laps. I will be teaching at this event.

You can come with your E90..or any other car other than a convertible without a roll cage..or an SUV/pickup. You will need to join the Audi club to be covered under their blanket insurance policy..at $40-44 (yearly fee).

If you join..mention my name on your Audi Club application and I may win a trip to Austria for the Ice Driving school...

not I. I have some audi buddies in my hometown that are dissapointed with the audi club in comaprison to the bmw club. I challenged them with, if they go, I'll go too. They chose California Speedway with SV instead of a long drive to audifest. I'll make it to a norcal track soon. If bmwcca at infineon in Nov wasn't sold out, I would be there.

Have fun!

It was great meeting and talking to you at the Auto Club Speedway Satakal! I got a flat tire on my 3rd session on Sunday so I had to pack up after that

I looked at SV but they don't have a registration button for that event... is it full?

Flat tire? What a shame. Yeah, it was good hanging with you too. I'm sure I'll see you at an autocross or something real soon.

The SV days in Nov I don't think are open for registration yet. Those SV guys run the roval with no front straight chicane. Did you see my video from sunday?

I just watched it. Great stuff! I also did an in-car cam with my old DV Tape camera mounted on a CruiseCam seat mount, but its mounted too low I think.

How fast can we take that part after the front-straight chicane? EVeryone in D group was running fairly slow through there (maybe 90mph?) and I didn't want to test the limits of my tires with a scary outside wall in view, so I always just eased through that banked turn at maybe 90 - 100mph max.

I did get some heat-related "semi-limps" as well... the automatics overheat the coolant and boost gets reduced and timing cut... there's no engine malfunction light... just a boost cut and loss of power when the coolant overheats. Oil temp was about 285 when it happened. I wasn't monitoring water temp... anyway, 1/2 lap at a reduced pace and oil temp went down to 275, and I had full boost again.

I think I need a VK Motorwerks Oil Cooler! Maybe by reducing oil temps, it'll reduce load on the coolant as well.
