Hi,

Took ED of my M340Xi and am waiting for it to be shipped back.

While driving around, I noticed a white square with a black number at top of screen just right of center; the number was different at various times during our travels. I've attached a screen shot from the BMW Genius App.

Does anyone know what that number is?

I think it's the number of messages/alerts that have been presented and waiting for you to view/clear them.

Appreciate your response. I first thought it was number of new Text or Email messages I had on my phone, but when I looked at my phone, that wasn't the case

They might be BMW messages, not texts. I'd like to hear more about your experience driving the M340 around Germany. 😀

It's the number of unread BMW messages/notifications. You will usually get them as a little banner in grey on top of the iDrive screen when they first come up.
Click on the number (touchscreen), they will come up, read them and the number will go away.

The car handled exceptionally well. The car has active cruise control, which I had never used; but I must say between it and the lane keeper made it really easy in traffic. The car was great on the autobahn, but had to keepnit under 105mph during the 1200 mile break in; even so, car was great, particularly in sport mode. Driving on Bundestrasses was also a blast in sport mode. I only wish that I had another week after initial service to get it up to its limit of 155.

Even though this is my 2d BMW & the delivery agent at BMW Welt talked me through things, there's a lot to get used to.

The only downside was the car lost its navigational skills for a day or so, primarily because European maps on a USB drive -- BUT it came back
