How can I upgrade bluetooth so it works with more phones

Hey guys, I just got a Nokia E71 and its not pairing with my Z4. Also have a problem with my wifes iPhone. It pairs but once the phone rings and she answers she can't hear anything over the cars speakers and they cant hear her.

So I was wondering is there a way to get the latest version of the bluetooth software and upgrade, I did that with the navigation before wondering if bluetooth works the same way.

I don't think a simple software upgrade is available, but a number of folks have replaced the entire bluetooth hardware module with a more recent version. This isn't cheap. I've seen prices in the $700 US range.
