X2 M35i Cluster

Hi, new to the forum so hello. I did search for this first...

About to press the button on a X2 M35i 2019 build here in Australia. Will be my third BMW but haven't had one in a while.

Only able to test drive the 20i which sux. The cluster freaked me out - the speedo was on the left and the tacho on the right and on the speedo the '60' and '80' are tiny - seemed to have to really focus to see the speed. Is there any way to personalise? Does the heads up help with this? How is it day to day?

I heard a rumour the X1 is about to come out with new cluster that will be programmable - anyone know about this?

Thanks in advance and promise fewer ???? in the future

The 35 doesn’t have that cluster. Tach is on the right.

It's exactly the same as the US one as far as I can see, what do you see as "different"?

Nope sadly. We are kms not miles so there are a lot more numbers included making it very busy.

Having the HUD, I don't think I've ever looked at the speedo.

I've not heard that the x1 is getting a gauge upgrade option. It appears x1's are finally getting the x2's gauges with the 2020 enhancements.

so far the only complaint you have is "more numbers"? and yes I understand you're KM not MI, but you compared that cluster to the US saying they're different and other then KM vs Miles I see no differences other than that, and remember the 2"x 5" yellow rectangle in the lower right is a programmable LCD and the mid section is in that that.

So other than KM vs Miles what changes do you see in that one vs the US one that you felt was "better"?

I’m glad it’s not, the new cluster is awful imo.

I'm 50/50 on the new cluster. With it all digital it could lead to more coding however. For example.. something as simple as going from USA to Canada you can change the speedo to Km-mph. In fact, if I ever go back to Canada and bring the car, I'm not sure the current regulations. Way way back you had to change your cluster to have it displayed. Something as simple as us going on vacation and driving across the boarder, there is mental math needed to convert since the BMW cluster is completely blank for km/h (vs the family minivan that has the km/h in smaller numbers of the dial.).

I agree with billnchristy, the current spedo looks crystal clear and sharp.

My 20i has the spedo on the left and tach on the right, i believe they are all the same across all model including the M35i.

Hi. I ended up having two weeks seat time in new 330i while my X2M35i was getting painted. The new digital cluster is blah and not configurable like competitors. And its the same in a new X5M50i as well. Really a let down IMO.

It was a dealer owner car for 2000 miles. They replaced front bumper for me.

Why not use the BC button to change the middle gauge to digital speedo?

You can always reprogram that LCD display. I did!
