2020 Model Year Production

I was recently surprised to discover that 2019 MY production for the F22/23 is supposedly to end next month, i.e., February 2019, which would make for a total of only 8 months of production. That seems short, but I'm sure there's some reasoning behind that decision. I was wondering that since 2020MY production may be started in February or March of 2019, when could we expect to see a new build configurator on the BMW website, as well as 2020 ordering and pricing guides. Anybody want to take a guess?

2020 Production Begins

The 2020 I ordered just changed to this status:

Production Begins
Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue.

VIN also appeared today.

That's great! I keep looking for the 2020 configurator to come up in the US. Can't believe BMW still has the 2019 up, even after EOP.

New to the Forum. Just got confirmation my 2020 M240i xDrive Coupe has entered production. I was told mid to late April for a MA delivery.
My last BMW was a '95 M3.

Very much looking forward to the new 2er.

This is very common. The BYO tool is a marketing tool aimed primarily at people who walk onto the lot and buy a car. The majority of cars on lots are still MY19 even if MY20 production has started.

Wait a sec! If this is a tool for people who buy off the lot, what tool do people use if they want to build a factory order? Makes no sense. I have done many BMW factory orders in the last 20 years and I can't figure out any other way I would have done it.

Totally agree. That response seemed counterintuitive. I spent many hours on that configurator coming up with the right combinations for my order. Just ask my wife!

Autotrader, cars.com, and dealer websites are for folks buying off the lot.

The online build tool is nice but over the years I have seen some errors and omissions in it. I used the Ordering Guide document for my final configurations on both European deliveries.

My Garage still showing the same status for the last 8 or 9 days. The 800 number still says completion date is tomorrow.

The online tracker seemed to work better on previous orders.

The tool for factory orders are the PDF pricing and ordering guides. I'm shocked someone would order off of the BYO tool, there are far too many omissions and package/option combination bugs in that thing for me to ever take it seriously.

No one is saying that they ORDER off the build site, only that they use it to get started. Neither of these guides is available online at the general website, AFAIK.

Mine did the same thing. Expect miraculous progress suddenly! Hopefully it's just the tool lagging vs BMW rushing them through the stations like that!

The BMW Canada Configurator still has both the 2018 & 2019 MY 2-series models (but no 2020 MY).

You were correct.

Wasn't able to access My Garage at all this morning. Now, the status has jumped ahead four steps to "assembly in process." Completion date still says tomorrow on the 800 line.

Thanks.

In <24 hours, the vehicle has now moved another 4 steps to "Awaiting Carrier Assignment"

Neither is the option to custom order . That's the point. The group of people who custom order and care about each individual option are an incredibly small percentage of BMW buyers. It just so happens that we are the majority on sites like these.
