Replacing Expansion Tank Question

Need to replace my coolant expansion tank. For those that have done this, what does the grommet do? Just help hold the tank in place? Is it typically damaged when removing the tank? Just trying to determine whether I should order one along with the tank.

It is a part of the system to hold the tank in place. The tank has a pin which inserts into the grommet to keep the bottom of the tank from moving around.

It seems unlikely to me that it would be damaged when the tank removed/replaced. However, it can pop out of the chassis and get lost below the engine, which has happened to me.
