So annoying. And it doesn't even show up at 32 degrees, but 37. WTF is the point of that?

I had searched for an explanation and it's because roads actually start risk of icing at around ~ 2c

It's loud as hell too, scares the shit out of me. The worst is when I was driving home last night and the temps get bouncing right around 37*. So it went off about 3 or 4 times on my 45min drive. I hate that thing - I don't need my car to tell me that it's cold outside. I know it's cold outside because I have a thermometer in my car, and when I got into my car....it was cold.

Good grief.

Damn! If you're anything like me, every time I'm driving and that sound comes on I look directly at the cluster and say to myself... WTF is going on now! lol

That is exactly what I think! I usually assume it's a low tire warning, since I am the king of getting holes in my tires.

On Volvo's a small light stays on the dash, but it is very small. I think it is smart because no matter how long has lived in a cold winter climate there are many idiots who drive full speed through ice and snow and end up in a ditch or worst causing a major accident.

It's related to "Wind-chill" in an analogous way. You probably realize that wet or melting snow or "freezing-rain" freezes on bridges & overpasses (no heat-storing ground underneath) BEFORE it freezes on "ground-based" pavement.

Think of that "annoying" light & chime as a reminder of those facts, which many people never learned in GS/HS science class.

Yes, I am aware of that.

Keep in mind when the temperature drops below 42 degrees in CT they dump so much salt the roads are green/white and pre-treat all bridges, so people just assume they can speed no matter what temperature.

The light doesn't bother me, the annoying BMW gong is the devil.

Lmao that emotional state 0 to 100 real quick uh.

But I think you can lower your gong noises guys. Mine isn't that loud it's on the lowest. You either do it in iDrive or if you don't have iDrive I think you turn the volume knob down when the specefic noise you want to reduce is playing.

Same here in Atlanta, our winters dont get that cold so 37 is commonly a low. I wish there was a once a day option or something, not every time it passes through or every time the car starts.
