E90 Start/Stop Button - Pre-LCI vs. LCI
I'm trying to figure out if I can use a pre-LCI start-stop button on my LCI car. As I'm sure many of you know, there is a visual difference between the two. The pre-LCI button has an aluminum finish, wider, one-part ring. Where as the LCI version has two parts, a narrow aluminum finish ring, and a black plastic inner ring which has a tendency to wear and rub off.
My LCI ring cracked so I am in need of a replacement, however it seems the ONLY way to obtain these two plastic rings is by purchasing a completely new switch itself. The pre-LCI ring looks a bit better to my eyes, and I can avoid the rubbing off issue. I was thinking to purchase a cheap one on eBay or elsewhere and just reuse the ring, not the switch itself. Although after inspecting pictures online it seems both switches have the same part number. And considering the time pieces are the same for both pre-LCI and LCI, it *should* fit on my dashboard trim, correct? Interested towards your guys' input. Thanks.
