When is the 1st service for DCT?
I have about 700 miles on my DCT car and I have had it for 2 weeks. I am kind of lost, shouldnt the first service on the car be at 1200 miles? Today on my car, it says that the next service is in 800 miles. Why? Just wondering
thanks people

Just guessing here but the BMW has a computer that calculates the required time for service. It measure such things as average length of trip, whether the engine came fully up to temp, average speeds etc. (Long trips at highway speed are best for oil life.) These are used to determine how severe your service duty cycle is. 1,200 miles is just an average. So you must be driving a normal rather than severe duty cycle.

Lots of short journeys = high average fuel consumption = shorter service interval. Long journeys = low average fuel consumption = longer service interval. I don't think it's as complicated as measuring the temperature of the oil etc. |

1250 miles is what is said in the manual & the sticker on the windshield....I dropped mine off today at 1227..... I heard launch control will turn its self on at 1200 miles....I tried it at 1191 miles and it still didn't work...
However the car started telling me I need to change the oil at about 900 miles.....

Other than that there was a bit of poor wording on my part. I didn't mean that there was a direct measurement of oil temp taken and stored, although that info is available to the computer, I just meant that short journeys mean that the engine does not fully come up to temperature thereby driving off condensation in the oil. |
