Flat tire....

Has anyone used the fix a flat kit that comes with our cars? I used it this morning.....and it seems to work well. I assume that the tire is repairable, provided there is just a nail or screw in the tire? Does the sealant that is used ruin the tire, or can it be repaired?

I didn't even know there was one to be honest.

I actually got a flat last Wednesday and had a tire shop take a look. Got a nail in it somewhere. Lucked out and was able to get it patched for 30 bucks.
A new tire was quoted 350 installed and balanced.

Interesting. My M4 came with a kit but I don't recall seeing one in my F90.

Please let us know how the final repair works out. I would Imagine that the stuff is messy to clean up but doesn't render the tire any less repairable.

It's in the trunk, in a compartment on the left hand side

Most likely once you use that, your TPMS might be damaged or giving a wrong reading because clogged.

There is a repair kit in the trunk in a small compartment on the drivers side floor. Once you used it you can not repair the tire anymore. In addition you should not repair a high speed tire but replace it if you ever intend to use it at high speeds.

I am getting the tire replaced at the dealer today, along with the fuel level recall taken care of.

$30 for a patch? You've been punked. I've never paid more tha$10 for a patch and that was at a national tire chain (Discount Tire).

Never had it done before - always had tires replaced.

I thought it was reasonable. No appt needed. Tire was removed from wheel, plug and patched and then balanced and mounted again.

$10 seems like a great deal.

Just an FYI, Discount Tire will fix your flat for free. Just make sure the puncture isn't on the sidewall or close to it as they won't put that wheel back on for "safety" reasons. But the real reason is to sell you a new tire.

I didn't know that - thanks for the tip.

I'll have to look into that next time.

If it's a nationwide thing - looks like Gassy was the one who got punked for paying $10.

Jk - $30 was reasonable to me, $10 is a deal, free is amazing.
