Hello All,
I've had issues playing music via USB on my 2018 440xi. I didn't have these issues in my 2014 435xi. Hoping someone has some solutions or other troubleshooting steps I can try.

My default way of listening to music is via USB to an ipod touch or secondary Bluetooth to an iphone 7 (ios up to date). Again, this method worked great on my previous car. On the new car, there are numerous glitches that make listening to music near impossible making my commute miserable. Almost daily, I encounter:
- Selecting a song sometimes doesn’t work rendering a 30 second delay and the first alphabetical song in my music catalog to start playing.
- Often a song starts and restarts several times without touching anything.
- Sometimes trying to select a song, there is a 10 second delay in your idrive button press to actuate.

Troubleshooting that I have done:
- Replaced USB cables
- Rebooted devices
- Replaced devices
- Tried devices in my wife’s 2017 Mini Cooper
- Turned Bluetooth off
- Turned Wifi off
- Delete Apple Car Play app

As reference, current Media SW: MB-005.012.001

Thanks for having a look...hopefully, someone has a solution.

Weird, not sure to which extent it would be worth waiting for the iOS 12 release.

Take a video and share it with the dealer. Being a new car I would think they would start by updating the car's software.

Well, its a 14 months old now (I got the first shipment of 18's last year). My dealership is a bunch of nitwits unfortunately. I did ping the BMW genius folks to ask if there is a new SW update available or incoming.

I will be upgrading to whatever new iPhone comes out this fall, maybe that will help, but, given this happens to multiple devices, I think the issue with the idrive...apple has no reason to fix this for BMW.

Just reset all settings on your iPhone, that did the trick for me. Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset All Settings. It won't delete any of your data, btw.

Good suggestion, that is about the only thing I haven't tried yet. Will give that a go.
