navi/lcd screen locked up today...

I was driving today with the main lcd screen set to navi and the assist screen set to "current position". I made a 10 minute pitstop and when I restarted the car the entire screen was unresponsive to any input (iDrive scrolling, memory buttons etc.). Interestingly, the navi display in the main window was still working and tracking but the current position display was not registering lat/long/alt at all (blank). The radio kept working too though of course not the display of the stations etc.

I restarted the car to no avail a couple of times. Finally I removed and then replaced the navi dvd and that seemed to do the trick. It's been ok since then.

Anyone experience anything like this?

I experienced this before in my 335i. Once. Didn't have to remove the disc though. It sounds like the computer was frozen or malfunctioning and that it won't be an ongoing problem.

Thanks. Good to know it didn't come back, at least in your case.

Cheers

Was your audio still working when the iDrive locked up?

Yeah, the radio was working including the volume knob, though it wasn't displaying stations since the lcd was locked. I didn't try the cd or iPod...
