Coolant Pump Thresh Set Point

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the Coolant temperature target so that the coolant pump kicks in more or less depending on that set point. I am sure there must be a value somewhere. I Notice my coolant temp stays at 110 degrees Celsius.. Sometimes the pump kicks in "faster" and drops the temp briefly lower. So i know it can be lower.

There are 3 setpoints - 110c is for low loads/cruising. At high loads it drops to 80c. Theres also a medium setpoint.

The engine is designed to run at 110c so I dont think you really want to make it run colder, it will just make it less efficient.

set mine in sport mode in MHD. I bought pump from FCP with lifetime wrrty so im not worried about running the pump more often

Sport Mode
• Coolant normal 95c (104c Stock)
• coolant high 90c (95c Stock)
• Coolant high+kft 80c (85c / 80c Stock) (This mode is activated at full throttle)
• Amb threshold for high mode 27c (32c Stock)
• Amb threshold for high + kft 32c (37c Stock)
Race Mode (only for drag race application)
• Coolant normal 85c(104c Stock)
• Coolant high 85c(95c Stock)
• Coolant high + kft 80c(85c / 80c Stock) (This mode is activated at full throttle)
• Amb threshold for high mode 22c(32c Stock)
• Amb threshold for high + kft 27c(37c Stock)
Your car will run cooler and the oil temperature will also drop slightly

FWIW, I find my car rarely moves out of that 80-90c territory. This is city driving mind you, but I'd be curious whether this is typical.

Next time I'm on a flat highway I'll check out my temp and see if it's ~110c...

But OP has a 335i with a oil temp gauge.

Unless I'm a bit confusing things, both your readings won't be the same right?

Indeed he does have an oil temp gauge, but we're talking about coolant temp. The readings I get are obtained through the BC cluster hidden menus.

Now, I didn't consider the fact that perhaps the N54/55 have different setpoints than the N52...

Yes oil and coolant temperatures are almost always different except for cold starts. I have been monitoring the coolant temperature on a long highway drive it stays solid 110 C. It should be the same for 328i. Oil temp is different obv for turbo, hence the gauge.
