Any way to change the burly man's voice on NAV to a woman?
My Audi A4 navigation system had a sweet girl who would come on to give me directions and place my phone calls, etc.
My new e90, which I otherwise LOVE, has a big burly man talking that sounds like the voice from a 1980's Apple computer. Is there any way to toggle the voice gender? |

1980s Apple Computer..That's a good way to put it!
I don't think this is possible. Sorry to disappoint One thing about NAV that confuses is that sometimes my disclaimer screen comes up German (happened once or twice) but you can not choose German in the language menu. Whats up with that? This IS a German car right?

That's too bad ... in Jeremy Clarkson's review of the M5 (video available for download on this site) the navigation voice is female, and it sounds more fluid than what the e90 has. I'm not asking for the M5 engine, just it's nav voice!

Ooops, yes, sorry - I meant the menu voice. I just picked up my e90 this morning and haven't actually yet heard the female nav voice, just the male voice for the menus, such as the phone/Bluetooth screens.
It seems to stumble a bit, whereas the Audi voice was more humanlike. Not that I will EVER go back to an Audi... |

I don't mind the female voice of the nav system, although she sounds kinda mechanical in English but much more suave in Spanish (funny how she has a Castillian accent, too). The phone book voice, however, is ATROCIOUS. 1980's Apple Computer is totally right.
Oz - I've had my legal warning thing come up in German before, too. Once recently everything on my main iDrive display was in English, except for the climate control setting was labelled "Klima." Odd.

The Navi female voice and the male voice for commands don't bother me. The funny one is that Talking Moose voice synthesizer (circa 1986 Macintosh) that responds to phone voice commands for names.
