M3 CP incoming - would you Trade in, Tootle or use Autotrader to get rid of your F3X?

Interested in what you tend to do when selling on a 3 year old car worth c.£16-17k if sold privately (my view based on Autotrader prices). In the past I've traded in or sold privately - not used Tootle (where dealers bid). I've tended to sell privately if the car is worth under £12k but this one is worth more and based on most of your opinions will not be as popular . Waiting for dealer to give me a price (and that will probably make my mind up not to trade it but we'll see). Selling high mileage diesels never seems too hard as they always end up firmly at the top of the page when people sort what they want by price.

My Apr 15 car is a fully loaded 335d M Sport Plus GT in Estoril Blue/Oyster Leather (£52k OTR list) in vgc with I estimate 71k miles when I sell it late July. What would you do? I'm thinking I should get a quick sale by asking £16,750 if selling on Autotrader as most seem to be up for way more than that, but not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle this time around - hence Tootle could be a good middle option - anyone had success there? I'm assuming I might get £13-14k from the dealer I'm buying my M3 from and perhaps £14-15k on Tootle if it does what it is supposed to...

I sold my E70 on Tootle, got £1250 more than a webuyanycar quote, dealer collected from me and paid by a bank transfer whilst here

Definitely worth a try, it is free for the seller and there is no obligation to sell

Make sure you don't set you reserve too high, I did first time and got very low offers, tried again the next week at a sensible reserve and had a much better response, even if it passes your reserve you still don't have to sell

You may get more selling privately but this was certainly hassle free and safe

I would try Autotrader etc as a start then if you have no luck Trade it in, depends how stupid the Trade In figure is

I am surprised you didn't use the car as a negotiation tool to get the right overall deal
