BMW 330d M-Sport Step Auto
Hi lads,
Hope you are well, New member here. I have a deposit down on a 2014 330d M-Sport Auto with 70k miles on the clock. From the pictures it looks to be in good condition but due to go and see/ inspect it on Monday. I always find forum member very knowledgeable so was wondering if any of you could give me some tips on what to look out for/ what to pay particular attention to when test driving etc. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Cheers |

I can't give you a definitive list of what to look out for but can let you know the issues that I have had and subsequently found them not to be uncommon:
Car wouln't start on the button; BMW changed the starter motor EGR cooler failed leaking coolant into the exhaust; check coolant level and check for excessive steam out of the exhaust for the first few miles. £££ to replace. Tailgate struts leaking oil and creaking/stopping during operation. Goodluck |

Welcome
I've had my 330d F31 for 2 years now and it's nearly got 40k on clock. No issues to date...apart from the common occasional squeaky M Sport Brakes, but if you can get a car with them, they look much better than the standard brakes, which rust up in no time. |

Thanks very much lads!
All really helpfull stuff and means I can go armed with the knowledge to make a much more informed decision. One last question, I had a 120d a few years ago and the Msport alloys were a nightmare for buckling. The 1 series forums were full of people with issues. Is this something any of u guys have experienced with the 3 series? Its the multispoke M sport alloys that it has. Cheers 👍 |

I have the 18" 400m's on RFT's. Had to replace both fronts and one rear due to buckles on the inner rim in the last 55k.
Not sure if due to lack of give in the RFT sidewalls - recently switched from Continentals to Goodyear F1's and ride does seem more compliant but potholes & cats eyes still scare the hell out of me
