Best dash cam under £100?

Any ideas guys?

Anyone got the thinkware f70?

I'm after a one channel discrete one with parking mode. Don't mind trying to hard wire it in.

I've got a nextbase 312GW. No complaints, wired in using cigarette lighter socket in passenger footwell and it's got a parking mode.

Best bet is to have a look on youtube for dash cam reviews and make up your own mind which suits you best....

I find his reviews pretty good, I've got the mini 0806 2018 model which would appear to fixed the earlier unreliability, currently around £85

Thanks I'll take a look.

Not too fussed on having an lcd screen as wont really want to ever look at it unless I really need to.

I've seen a few diy on hard wiring them in.

Are they fairly straightforward would you say? Seems to be about two wires really

When you say "hard wired" I assume you mean recording in parking mode. If so you can run a single usb power to the device and have it go to parking mode based on movement

Yeah I was looking at the thinkware f70 and that comes with a 'hard wire kit' where you wire it into the cars fuse box/harness etc so parking mode works.

But if it works by just plugging it into a usb then even better

Well plugging it into usb means it'll switch off 5mins or so after you lock the car. Hardwiring means a permanent live.

Any down sides with a permanent live? Apart from initial wiring it in etc?

Not gonna drain the battery or anything?

If you don't have low voltage cut off on the supply you will drain the battery. Kits with low voltage cut off aren't expensive

Does anyone know where you can get the multisafer from?

I've looked everywhere and can't find one for sale!

Garage List
Anyone wired a Nextbase into the fuse box? I have just taken the wiring kit out of the Mercedes as the new 330e arrives in 2 days.

Wiring my thinkware in was a piece of cake in the end. What cables have you got? Ground, accessory live and battery live?

Many shops have the 312 at £79 right now. I have the 512 on the front and am thinking about a 312 for the rear after some tosser scraped my rear bumper. I've been quoted £265 by BMW and £132 by the local body-shop for this...

I got an A119S for my F36 from Amazon

My F30 has a version of the A118 predecessor to the above that I've been very happy with, very discrete. The major improvement of the A119 is that the GPS is now built in to the mount.

Which BMW dealer in Glasgow? On my 330d Douglas Park used a smart repairer to fix a rear bumper scuff round my parking sensor (prior to me getting the car) and the quality of the finish was poor.

I gave up after the 3rd time of asking them to sort when I knew I was trading the car anyway!

I got the £265 quote from Harry Fairbairn, Irvine and the quote of £132 from Bridgend in Kilwinning (who are good, I've used them before, they are a major insurance repair shop). Both btw are quoting on a respray of the entire corner of the bumper.

Funny you should mention Douglas Park cos I was going to get a quote from Douglas Park, Hillington. Hmmm, maybe not a good idea.

I'd go with Bridgend based on your quotes. My sister had a door ding on her Type R done there years ago and you'd never have known.

The dedicated rear cam for the 512 was available for £25 at launch but not sure if that offer is on.
