Sounds like you're already there TBH.

Personally, I'd make the decision myself, rather than be talked into it by a bunch of guys on a forum. You know what's right for you and fits your needs - nobody else does.

If you're asking for tried and tested man-maths examples to pitch to your other half, that's a different question.

I went from a 330d Touring with MPPK to a 440i GC with MPPSK
Both are fine engines
The 440i GC is better looking and more entertaining to drive
Simple really

I went from a 435d to a 440i.

Never regretted it one bit - and neither will you.

Just get it ordered - you already know it makes sense

Best car i have owned , to date.

Prior to changing from a Mercedes CLS i looked at all options (petrol , coupe) that suited me before i bought the 440.

S5 , E coupe , Boxter , 640i , 370Z and nothing came close regarding looks / mileage / remaining warranty / age / ins group / tech / price / performance.

Just collating my finances now to get the MPPK installed , if that is your thing.

Typical day in my 440i GC.

I drove the six mile commute to work this morning, all relaxed cruising, unobtrusive engine smoothing and soothing the whole journey. Adaptive suspension absorbing everything.

Last two roundabouts, the way opened up, so a quick press of the sport button and enjoyed them, few more revs and a little sound.

Lunch - drove to the Aldi dealer, no hurry so inside lane and another comfortable cruise.

Left the Aldi dealer to the perfect scenario. First at the lights and a clear run up the long motorway slip road. Window down. Two button presses this time - Sport +. Stick left. Three or four consecutive blasts to 7k rpm, the six doing its rorty stuff.

Later I will be cruising through traffic to head to the gym and pick my daughter up from nursery. It will be all comfort mode woofling. The boot is loaded with a travel system buggy and gym bag. [When we went on holiday it fitted five suitcases, a folding buggy and my daughter in her car seat. All (except the daughter!) easily accessible with the huge bootlid. ]

At various points today I will have parked, looked back at the car and thought that it looks 'just right'

440i GC - just get it bought. Two cars in one.

I think the only thing you’ll miss is the kick-in-the-back torque and better fuel consumption. If that doesn't bother you then the 440i is better in every way.

Not a current 440i owner, but I would be tempted to wait 9 months or a year and get the G20 M340i. The F3x is pretty long in the tooth and the interior badly needs updating. If you can get a great deal (30+% off) on a pre reg then perhaps, but the car is likely to feel quite dated when the G20 is launched.

And the torque deficit with the MPPSK fitted isn't that bad anyway. 500Nm for a petrol car is pretty good
There is some slight turbo lag when picking up from slow speeds in Comfort but it doesn't detract from the overall driving experience, which is great

JD6 is right.... however, we probably won't see the new 4GC until 2020 and discounts will be lean in the first 6 mths after launch
Get a 440i now - with MPPSK - and you'll be certain of getting a 355bhp engine. Future cars will have a PPF fitted which may well reduce power figures. The LCI has some decent steering and suspension improvements too. Plus, you should be able to comfortably achieve 25% off a factory order now

I had been thinking the same, hold on to my 2014 320i until the G20 is out and see what it looks like. However I just bought an AUC 440i GC, 8 months old, 5k miles, approximately 40% off list. Think that is a pretty decent deal.

Sounds a very good deal. If I was buying late in the F3x product cycle, a young AUC or a pre-reg would be my choice too.

Coming from a 330d, mine is now 950 miles old...
Awesome car. Beautiful to look at, sounds lovely on start up, goes like stink when asked.
What is not to like. Oh, and if it interests you, on a motorway cruise you can get 40mpg at a steady 70 mph, so perfect for commuting too!
Diesel is so last year...

Absolutely agree with this.

My journey to work is 35 miles, mixture of good B roads and dual carriageway. Sometimes I'm happy to leave it in comfort and drive along at 60-70 mph taking it easy. Then when the mood takes me it's everything into Sport and it's literally like a different car.

I can get 40 mpg going to work down to 15-17 mpg on a Sport blast across the B roads.

I got Snapper Rocks Blue and I've never had so many positive comments about a car. You can go crazy with the options but I kept mine simple, M Sport Plus pack, adaptive suspension, digital cockpit and folding mirrors. That gives me everything I need with the standard spec. This is my third F3X model and the digital cockpit just makes it feel a little different.

I absolutely love this car. Highly, highly recommend it.
