This whole dealer experience and M2C is an awful experience

Just going to voice some frustration. I thought I was first on the list and had the slot locked down but got the call at the last minute prior to building out the car to be told that they are seeing a lot of hype for this car and they don't plan on selling for MSRP and i lost my spot and don't have the ability to build or spec it out.

I guess at the end of the day it's nice to not worry and save some money but on the other hand I was looking forward to it.

Just saying, this whole experience is shit.

Run away from that dealer. ADM is not exclusive to BMW, ask Porsche folks trying to buy GT3 RS or Ford Mustang GT350/500.

I got the MSRP deal in writing and I did not have to ask for it.
Next time, ask for the deal in writing.

So just wait a few months or find a new dealer.
Worst case: you're not the first kid on your block with the new toy everyone is talking about. Who cares?

Very true.
I called a few others to get more info and got nothing.

Oh well, I guess I'll check this out when they're on the lot

You aren't alone. Finding a good dealer is not an easy thing - we're in Phoenix, the 12th largest metro market in the country, with 5 dealers within 3 hours, and we had to get our M2 from Alderson BMW in Lubbock, Texas. What does that tell you. Scott Bednorz is our SA at Alderson, and when I tell you that he pulled our M2 purchase out of the dumpster, I'm barely exaggerating. We needed him way more than he needed us, and we still paid straight MSRP and still got the 5% ED discount. There are great dealers out there, don't give up. It's worth the patience and effort.

I really doubt that all the MSRP deals in this round are spoken for. There definitely isn't the hype of the 1M and it's not limited.

On this I am going to agree with afwares. I had a similar experience here in the DC metro area. After reaching out to some local dealers I wound up buying from a dealership in PA.

Call around, wait for a while or, if you are a BMW CCA member reach out to some people in the club locally to see which dealers to reach out to. Patience and persistence will pay in the end.

Don't beat yourself up, car dealer are inherently shady; nothing new, that's why I treat them like the whores that they are, whenever my lizard brain sniffs out bs..

I got 5k off my last purchase by going to a dealer in NJ, while I live in NY. Shop around, one of them might give you a fair shake..

Also, never reveal to them that you're excited about the purchase; they will pounce on your emotion - it confirms that could charge you whatever they want and get away with it..

Just got a voicemail from my CA stating that my allocation had arrived for the M2 CS...yeah clueless BMW salesperson stuff. Nonetheless, he's an awesome dude who actually talked me into buying an M2 at MSRP when I was set in an M3 ZCP. How much $ did he lose on that transaction?

Point is, it's all about the dealership and CA in the world of bmw.

Had you at least left a deposit? Then Id be pissed. Without one, you cant expect the dealer to hold anything. When I bought my M2, I left a deposit long before there was allocation.. I didnt get delivery for almost a year.. The deposit arrangement should be that its refundable until a build number is assigned.

Same. I live in Houston which has 6 BMW dealers and I bought my last two from BMW of San Antonio. When I bought my M240i 16-months ago, I got on the list for M2C (#2) and all I had to do was ask to be on the list. No deposit, no paperwork and MSRP. As of today I have one on order and an allocation, status 111. Good dealers and reps make all the difference.

No deposit,. I was asking repeatedly to put down a deposit and they would not take one. Multiple times!

Maybe someone will not able to claim their spot and help you out without being more than MSRP. I know location pays a role but there is always that hope.

Damn I wish this whole thing was as simple as buying an iPhone at your local Apple store, instead we have to deal with all sorts of BS!

Lukewarm feeling about not being the only one to experience this

Look out of state if you haven't already. You're in the worst possible market to get this car anywhere near MSRP.

We never even got that far but depending on the lease rate I would lease due to the fact that I can write it off as part of my business.
