Bye Bye 335d... Hello New M3 CP

So I was tempted by the current deals being offered by BMW dealerships across the UK and took delivery of a shiny new motor the week before last.

M3 Competition Package
Black Sapphire
Black extended merino leather
Steering wheel heating
DCT transmission
Sun Protection Glass
Carbon Fibre interior trim
High Beam Assist
M Head up display
Harmon Kardon
Speed Limit Display

What an absolute animal. I can't believe the difference in how this thing looks and drives compared to the 335D. Don't get me wrong the 335 is quick but this just has such a sense of occasion.

The only thing I am tempted to do is the carbon exterior pack at some point, but that can wait for a little while.

Anyway, let me know what you think. A few pics if you click the link below.

Thanks for looking.

Haha. I took the spacers off the 335 before I handed it back but left the springs on.

I guess the spacers I have don’t fit the M3?

If not I’ll probably put them up for sale on here..

Congratulations - I'll be following suit shortly, my YMB M3CP is in the country now having Carbon & MPE fitted - but not sure when I'll pick it up yet... I think there are quite a few moving from x35d to M3. As 35d cars are usually driven by high mileage drivers... how many miles will you be doing/have circumstances changed? I used to do 30k but have dropped to 20k as has my need for the space the GT gives which all feels manageable now in the F80... Looking forward to the performance, the sound track & not having to slip on a glove to refuel after 15 years of various 6 cylinder BMW diesels... I have thoroughly enjoyed all my 35ds - they are incredibly effective machines for high mileage drivers...

Thanks.. Wow, YMB with carbon is bound to look amazing. I was torn between the black sapphire and YMB as they had 2 cars available but the black had slightly better spec hence I went for that. Out of interest what are the dealers charging to fit the carbon pack. Im not too fussed about the exhaust as the one it comes with standard (which I think is different on the CP anyway??) sounds pretty damn good. The cold starts are the best!!!

Im doing about 12 to 15k a year tops so can justify the green pump. I havent done silly mileage for a few years but bought the 335d as I couldnt justify an M back then... and then I did some man maths and justified it to myself ha... still working on the Mrs though.

Have to agree with you the 335ds are a great bit of kit and get you serious performance for the money. Very capable machine and quite easily 50mpg on a run... but it's not an M and doesnt set your pulse racing every time you drive it.

Bet you can't wait to take delivery of yours. Can't be long now if they are fitting the kit to it. Within the next week surely..

I just went for the carbon packs (ZZC & ZZM) in the price list as part of the factory order/deal & 0% PCP so that is factory fitted (no extra fitting charge) although it turns out they fit the carbon kit when it arrives in country but before it goes to the dealer apparently. In theory it arrives at the dealer w/c 25th June to be prepped & have the MPE fitted but as I'm on holiday at the end of that week I'm in no hurry - though I expect the dealer will be in order to land it in this qtrs figures so I sense a further negotiation opportunity

I agree that good though 35d/40i are - and they are very good - there is just no comparison with an M3/4, so yes I'm looking forward to it

Not sure.. I think I will leave them.

I have been offered a pair of M performance ones for next to nothing but I dont really like them. Think they look cheap IMO.
