F31 335i MPE?
Have people just gone for the exhaust upgrade and what do you think of a chrome tipped box fitted for a £999? I am collecting the car on Saturday so might get it done before. Thoughts are very welcome

No, but I have an F31 335i so would be interested in your thoughts if you do get it done (and a video of the car post the upgrade).

I've done it
I'm glad I did it - had car 4 years too so value for money You don't get the loud bangs of a 340 mppk as I've seen on here but it is noticeable and I've enjoyed it - you get little burbles of overrun and a little gasp on up changes - I think now I'm keeping car for another year I may go for mppk too. It's not droney on a run and only really noticeable with the pedal down - a good mix in that regard Cold start is pretty cool too but it's pretty cool stock - just not quite as loud It makes me put my windows down in tunnels still 4 yeas on! |

Probably could, the N55 uses electronic valves the same as the B58 so I'm pretty sure someone with the skills could do it. Finding the exhaust in the first place would be tricky though, BMW won't sell it on its own.

The place could no longer fit before I buy so will now do it later in the summer. Mppk kit seems very expensive though I’ve been quoted £1500. I collect tomorrow I am quite excited.

I have an F30 and will be putting my M Performance exhaust on later today. The exhaust does have a valve like the stock. I have no other performance mods. I have never heard the exhaust in person either. I picked it up off this site from someone local for 550 then sold the tips for 90 making the total exhaust purchase 460 USD. I'm pretty excited and will come back to let you know my thoughts. A lot of people say it's not worth it but I picked it up cheaper and don't want a "loud" exhaust with drone. This seemed like the best option for my needs.

Update
I have installed the Mperformance exhaust on my 335xi. I must say I am slightly underwhelmed but I am in love with it.
Pros: Does not drone a single bit with medium load in the car Sounds amazing on hard acceleration Easy to install OEM THE BURBLES!!!! Cons: Will drone VERY slightly with a full car (4 moderately weight people) Cannot hear the exhaust driving normally with windows up and music on Can be expensive Start up can be LOUD and obnoxious |

In my opinion, the MPE is a minimum must have for a 335i. I can't believe BMW produced a 335i that sounds the way it does stock. The MPE is a little underwhelming at first but with day to day driving, you learn to appreciate how it's not over the top savage but enough to put a smile on your face. It's definitely not as energetic as the 40i MPE.
Cold starts are always nice to hear (you can also do the equivalent golf tee mod too for a bit more character). Up shifts at higher revs gives a nice burble and when you hover around the 2k/3k rpm with a tap on the throttle and release, the burbles come out to play. It's worth the money if you are planning to keep the car a while, if not then there are alternatives you can consider. I think a few people have gone down the direnza route. I'm on my 2nd f30 335i now and both had the chrome tipped MPE. I should probably get the app which would make video upload easier

i am def keen to get some things sorted out on my 335i. it is a f31 manual, so i do plan to keep it for a long time. it has relatively modest 18s on it, so i am considering 404s and the MPE, which i have now found fitted for £840, which doesn't seem to be bad. I had previously an M135i with an MPE, so i assume it will sound very similar to that (which was v good)

£840 is a good price, was this a used item or you purchased from a dealer?
Been looking for a good deal as my local dealer quoted me £1200..... |
