340i goes back replaced with 330e

Well had the 340i for 2 years and now with a change of job churn over a lot more miles so have changed for a 330e....

Must say I miss the noise and excitement of the 340i but to be fair with what I need at the moment the 330e does deliver decant pace and a mix of economy too.

So happy at the moment.

The black one is my new one and the blue on was the old 340

New one just has
M sport plus pack - H&K, 19s, sun protection, high beam assist
Red leather

As I only specced sun protection and black panel on 340 I love the improved sound system! Had a great deal paying 338 for 2 years on the 340 with no deposit including maintenance and tyres etc so shame it was time to give it back. Although had option to purchase for 23,500 which I still thought was a good deal. Got this one 2 years old as needed a car quickly.

I've had the 330e for coming up 2 years and 45k miles now. We really like it, and my wife absolutely loves it. We charge it every night and averaging high 40s mpg.
It's plenty quick enough, and handles ok, though the gearbox isn't not as quick As in other cars, but give how the hybrid system works that's understandable.
If it wasn't a company car I'd have changed the dampers, but otherwise no complaints.

I'd still rather have a 340i though!

Have to say over the past 2-3 weeks I’ve had it for a 40 mile each way journey every day if I try I can get 105mpg going! But then about 50 coming back as couldn’t re charge. But averaging about 58-59 at the min so happy at the moment.
I agree about the gearbox it is quite a bit slower...
Does seem to do what I need it to do at the moment so happy with it.

Have you installed a charge point or running off the 3 pin plug? Haven’t decided whether to get one yet or not..

I have a chargemaster box fitted which charges faster than a 3 pin plug and is safer. If you fit within 6 months of getting the car then you get £500 towards it from government.

We are getting high 40s using for a long commute.

I've never understood why either. Somebody mentioned cloning which is utter nonsense.

If a car like yours is stolen, they can make a copy of your number plate (easily done Online) then drive around like hooligans and rack up speeding tickets and parking tickets not to mention driving off at petrol stations without payment.....guess whose headache that becomes

But what's that got to do with it being on-line? What is more likely: somebody who is of a mind to steal and then clone a car being a member of this site and trawling through thousands of posts in the hope of finding a picture of similar car that they can clone

Or

Just going to a dealership and looking in the carpark?

I still don't get it. You could copy a number plate from any car on any street corner and do the same, no?

Wouldn't it be easier for them to just look on websites like auto trader to do that rather than go through all the posts on forums in the hope of finding a pic of a similar car showing the number plate though?

You're right, but I think the point is to not show your number plate anywhere online. specially on sites like Autotrader

Yes but it would be far easier to find the same shape and colour online.

Was the 340i new? If so you had an amazing deal on it.

£23500 + £8112 = £31612.

I'd assume you bought it at 1yr old.

Either way the price they offered you seems really reasonable.

Yeah was a brand new order so yeah bargain price! Really couldn’t moan at all! 2 years got it over and 10k per annum
Used my whole 20k too and loved every min of it!
When handed back the assessor commented on how well it looked and told me the auction it would be going to if I wanted to get it back even cheaper!

Fair point. Although the risk on this forum is that they have to add 2 grand's worth of replica M-Performance tat as well as the number plate to make it look like the same car

Same here. The company lease on mine ends in August next year so I am hoping the new 3 series touring is launched by then, and with a hybrid option, or else we may move to the Mercedes C350e estate instead.

Or, one of the mid sized SUVs comes as a hybrid, perhaps the GLC facelift will bring the hybrid to the UK. BMW seem to be going with full BEV for the X3, and no Macan hybrid till the next gen Macan comes in 3 years time.

I really need a hatch or an estate (for bike and dog) - and I understand the Golf GTE has been withdrawn from sale by VW at the moment and can't even be ordered due to long lead times

I was informed the 330e has been axed due to not meeting new emmision regs. In fact you coudn't build a 330e or 530e last week on BMW's site.

Is this a temporary halt to production like some other models, while WLTP emission controls are designed into the exhaust system? Or dropping the 330e model totally, as it is too close to end of production to make the necessary changes, like has happened to the M3?
