Oil electronic meter

Hey everyone hows it going?
i just had a question about the electronic oil meter on the car.
i have a 323i 2009. The oil was at min a few days ago, it said "+1L" meaning the oil was really low. so i added a little oil, i'd say around 1L. next time i start the car its back at max. the oil meter. is there a problem with the oil meter or was the oil never low?

thanks!

take off the belly pan and look for sings of oil leaking. These cars like to leak oil.

The oil meter measures the last quart of oil in the pan. It measure the 7th quart only. So, when it first reads that you have ‘extremely’ low oil you actually still have ~6 quarts.

You did the right thing by adding a quart to make the total 7.

There is no issues with your oil meter.

Your car said to add 1L of oil, and the oil level was at minimum. You added 1L of oil. The car is now showing the oil level is at max.

There's nothing wrong with your oil level sensor.

To monitor your oil look at the graph .Be aware
that it takes the oil level readout awhile to update
and settle down and as stated only measures the top
quart or so of oil. This device is the subject of many
threads and frustrated users.
