Driving back yesterday the fuel needle was three segments above the 1/4 mark when I set off. As I drove on over the 30 miles it dropped to 1/4. I thought that was poor for my 435d at a constant 70. Two miles before home it came back up by two segments above the 1/4 mark.
My wife tells me our 320d does this as well when approaching a 1/4 tank. Normal behaviour for the fuel needle? What say you? Thanks |

When I had the 340i I did notice the needle fluctuate, can't fully remember the exact point it would do it, but it would go down rapidly then go back up.

I've noticed the same in 335d, takes ages to get to half a tank, and only about 60-70 miles in the 1/2 to 1/4 section but does move around the quarter a bit and then takes a while to go below that again. I assumed it was just an odd shaped tank where the 1/4 to 1/2 was not even... (not technically a quarter then I know)

Mine is the same. Holds for ages around the half tank point and seems to drop off rapidly around the 1/4 point. I put it down to shape of tank. You would have thought German engineering would compensate for that....
