did you buy them from the dealer? Are they already pre-gapped?

yup pre gapped (its a 4 prong style, so im' not sure how you would gap it anyway). Bought them from the dealer, 15 a pop w/ my BMWCCA discount.

I have 28k on the ticker. I think I have a messed up plug causing a slight misfire at high rpms.

parts guy had a funny response when I asked for the socket. He said, the tech told me to have you bring your car in for service if it needs new plugs, we are supposed to sell that socket. Your car will need the new plugs at 35k (I have 30k). I then asked, well what do I do when the car is out of warranty and I want to change my plugs! He said, bring it in and the techs will do it, they are trained for that.................yeah sure buddy. That sounds like a $300 plug change to me.

He then was a nice guy when I explained I want to keep the car after the warranty. He called some central warehouse and pretended that one of his techs needed it! It should be ready for my pickup on thursday.

if you're talking about Tischer, you probably talked to one of the newer idiots. Since Garth left a few months ago, no one over there seems to have a clue.

Tischer have been great in their Parts Dept, but unsure about their service
Jason has been there awhile and is the most knowledgeable guy I deal with, others just need time to get up to speed but in no way lacking in intelligence

AST 12 Point Thin Walled 14mm Spark Plug Socket

I owned both sockets (BMW socket cost $60 and AST Assenmacher socket cost $16.39). They have the same external measurement of 18mm x 63mm. Both sockets work for N52/N54 Spark Plug Socket for 2006+ BMW 6 Cylinder Engines.

The BMW socket (black color) has 6 internal metal guides to keep the spark plug aligned with the socket. BMW Part #: 83300495560 (83 30 0 495 560)

The AST Assenmacher socket (silver color) has soft rubber boot to safely grip the spark plug during removal and installation. AST Part#: SP1412

AST Assenmacher socket is much cheaper, but I found that the BMW socket is much lighter with better quality metal and it is easier to use (less friction to insert the spark plug into the socket and removal).
