Evening guys,
I am currently in the process of having a pair of custom made hybrid turbos built for my 335d. They have been stripped and I have decided on the following specs: Small turbo: Billet compressor wheel (non cut blades) 360 degree thrust bearing Not increasing compressor size as I don't want to ruin spool Large Turbo: Bored out to 80mm Custom billet 80mm compressor wheel ( standard is 72mm) with 8 degree blade cut backs 360 degree thrust bearing conversion Rated to 3 bar (standard 2.1/2 bar) Also having manifold ported to match turbos etc too Anyone give me an approximate cost for drive in drive out swap? It's a spare set I've sent away. Also is it worth replacing the oil lines etc? No issues with the ones currently fittedi

Big Hybrid turbo fitted to the polished and ported manifold and one of the small turbo with the electronic control unit attached ready for refitment.
Down pipe was apparently a complete nightmare to remove from the turbos, let's hope it's kinder on the re fit

Car collected and drives perfectly didn't even throw a single error code after fitting!! Is making a cool whistle under load now (not a leak!) and hits peak boost much quicker. Just need to finish the meth install and then get her mapped.
Had a play with the 0-60 timer on the P3 gauge, it felt quick but not sure how accurate it is!!

So today was a nerve racking mixed emotions kind of day. The car laid down some solid initial figures:
I didn't get full figures, didn't want to hassle the guys working on it too much but: 373.48 without the meth (boost leak) 391 with the meth (with boost leak yet to be discovered) (graph below only one I managed to get) Then as much as they tried the boost leak was uncontrollable and pretty bad so peaked at 401 bhp and 835nm Cars mapped by Unicorn usually run around 2.1 bar of boost, they were requesting 2.5 bar form mine but only seeing 1.7 due to the leak and it still made 401 and 835. Leak was that bad it was also forcing meth out in to the air on the dyno pulls 😩 Torqbyte meth controller being fitted the. Car is going back to Deutsch Tech for the intercooler end tank to be drilled and tapped to accept the meth nozzle. Currently running twin nozzles but was advised that is OTT. I have a brand new OEM boost hose to go back on so watch this space 🙈🙈🙈

Boost leak was from Main intercooler hose to inlet, prior to inlet air temp sensor. These pipes eal well but after being on and off a few times it weakens the seal.
Mine was blowing boost and meth out of the leak so had to abort. New hose going on and the meth nozzles being relocated to the intercooler outlet once it's drillled and tapped. Plan is to run a single large nozzle as two seems over kill. New Torqbyte controller is another level!
