Clear Bra

Do you have a 3M clear bra on your 335i coupe? What are your thoughts? I'm thinking of putting one on my car. Thanks,

I put VentureShield on mine because I saw a side by side comparison and the 3M scratched rather easily.

VentureShield was recently acquired by 3M... I guess they realized their product was superior.

I think it's definitely worth it. gives you the piece of mind of the rock chips you'll avoid from driving on the freeway. I have venture shield as well. Same thing as 3M now since they took over or vice versa. If you have a front lip, then it's even more worth it imo. You won't have to put on the blue tape when taking your car to the track or on long drives.

I am getting one when I take delivery of my car. That is the first place I will be driving to. IMO it is a necessity in Colorado as there are rocks all over the roads and I like to dirve the windy mountain roads.

Worth getting even though it can get pricey. I just got protection on my bumper, headlamps and fog lights. That helped reduce the price. The full protection includes the front of the hood and side mirrors. I have jet black and you really have to look close to notice the film. So far it's prevented any scratches on my bumper. I paid around $425.00.

I was quoted $699 at a local dealer for a 3M clear bra "package" that included the most commonly protected parts (front bumper, 1/3 hood/fenders, mirrors, door edges/cups, etc). Other areas such as rear bumper top and lower rear bumper are extra.

I went to Tint Plus in Laguna Hills. I got the Pinnacle Formula One tint with it as a package deal, so they gave me a discount. Go to their website. They are close to Irvine BMW and they do some of their cars for them.

Have one on my car. I heard that BMW's paint is a bit soft and prone to chipping. I'm sure it's not as bad as a Lotus Elise - even at only 1K miles it was bad. Still, definitely a good thing to have during lovebug season down here.

If the OP is in the Tampa area, I can put you in touch with someone. Even if not in Tampa, he's mobile, but I don't know what range he'll travel.

I paid about 1k. That may sound pricey for a clear sticker, but this is what I got done:
1) Full hood
2) Full fenders
3) Full bumper
4) Custom aero lip
5) Both side mirrors
6) Both columns on either side of the front windshield
7) Headlights
8) Foglights

I opted for the full hood and the full fenders because I didn't want the film to be noticed. You can barely see it. It's great! I don't even wax the full front of the car. I use Plexus, a plastics cleaner which gives it a great shine and keeps it smooth.

man the more i see people posting about this, the more i wanna run out and grab one... for the clear bra to truly work tho, on a car like mine...which is black of course, lol... is to get the ENTIRE hood done so you cant see the outlines of the clear. So i can see why PHREAK payed the extra coin.

full hood = big $

guess its worth it tho, ill be putting aside a few bucks the next paycheck and finally getting one of these bad boys

Don't forgot to throw a little wax on it. Makes it easier to clean and more clear.

I have the Ventureshield on the full front fascia and 1/4 hood.

It still scuffs easy so be careful, don't try to rub things out.

Still I'd rather replace it than my paint.

Scuffs? I don't experience that at all. I've had my car for a year now.

One thing I will note... VentureShield isn't good with bird crap. The more yellow/brown it is, you better clean it off immediately. It will stain and get into the film. It seems to go away after a couple of washes though.

ok, so I too am thinking about getting one, but before I do, did you wash/wax your car? Also, how does it work after you have the clear bra when you're washing/waxing?

You can wash but don't wax it. They strip the wax off the application area before it goes on. They use alcohol or other spirits to totally clean the paint.

Once it is one wash as normal and apply wax but like I said in a similar post, tape the edge off to make sure that you don't get product on there. It is a bitch to clean.

Maybe the 3M and Ventureshield scuff differently. Not sure. I applied some wax to minimize the vis.
