E92 2007 335i Ambient Tempature Sensor

Okay so I have been looking all over the forums and have been doing some research and wanted to ask here. My car was in an accident in the front and the sensor was taken off but the connector was not ripped off. So I bought a new sensor and the temp stayed at -40. So then I bought a new connector and sensor cut the old wires and put it together and still -40. So I took off the connector and tried to touch the wires to close the circuit and the temp should go to 122 but it didn’t it stayed at -40. I am lost right and idk what to do.

I got the code 931b

From what I can find, 122 is short circuit and -40 is open circuit. So if you are shorting it and it still reads open, your wire is likely broken at some point between the sensor and the controller.
