Have you seen this crack before ?

Hi guys,

Having misfire cylinder 4 so I said ok let's try replacing all plugs and coils. Didn't get to touch them and I see oil, not good... looking a bit more the plastic housing is cracked, not sure how that really happened, I own the car for less than 10,000 KMs and I bought it with 80,000KM. I am guessing a bad mechanic probably was trying to do work on the injector and somehow cracked it or I don't know..

Anyways, not sure how long this is like that for.... I am planning to get the coils and plugs replaced either way and now looking to buy that part new or used.

Have you seen engine valve covers cracked like this ?

Thank you

Not like this specifically, but I have seen them crack before. It's really unfortunate, and is a good example of why plastic valve covers are no fun. You could probably do a temporary repair with JB weld or similar, but I'd get a new cover soon.

I will actually try to see how it lasts with a JB weld or similar products first, as it will be quite some work to remove that cover... thanks a lot

Just replace it, dont mess with JB weld. It's a 3 hour job and really not that difficult for a beginner DIY.

I've had JB weld hold on a higher pressure situation. It was a pin hole on a metal thermostat housing. Different make. Worth a try but it will look ghetto. You will need to sand/prep surface and get oil off area to get it to stick. There is little pressure so it should work. Actually, my M57 diesel is under slight vacuum in this area due to breather feeding into the turbo inlet. Not sure what engine you have in these pics as I'm not familiar with N52,N54 nor N55 engines. Good luck.
