In yesterday's commute home, some 30-something bookish chick had the nerve to play with her Nintendo DS (and stylus) while driving. She was right behind me, too, so I switched lanes before she became an accident waiting to happen.

I've heard of people shaving, applying makeup, cutting fingernails, etc. while driving, but playing handheld video games??? common!

Wait, how did you know it was a DS per se unless you were equally as fixated/distracted on the lady plus whatever she was holding

Wait, was she (bookish) hot?

you don't see this in Europe or other countries. Driving is crazy that no way one can do anything but drive.

Anyone else seen truckers drinking beer on I-95? That's always comforting.

My theory is that if we were allowed to drive at higher speeds (85-95mph+) people would pay more attention to the road. The fact of the matter is, when im on the highway and stuck going 45-50 I tend to lul off and start playing with the iDrive and other stuff I can get my hands on....On the other hand if I am flying at 95+ I usually keep both hands on the wheel and eyes str8 ahead.

Applied to a person, someone who looks like a bibliophile. I would associate it with the Tina Fey librarian look.

Yes, that's what I had in mind, but this particular chick was a bit more nerdy.

This was on Rt 7 where there are many many stoplights. And at one of these stoplights I was staring back (with the rearview mirror) at any half-decent looking chick... just to pass the time of course
