Key FOB issues.. Went through dealer!

Quick run down I bought my car used through a non bmw (Ford) dealer and it only came with one key fob. The dealer I bought from paid a BMW dealer direct $480 for a brand new fob. I go pick up the new fob and the BMW SA is doing the hole holding the fob to steering column and nothing works. I try a few times and get the dash to show me a "key fob error fob will not start engine"... The SA ends up telling me they have to reprogram the whole car and 2 keys and it'll be another 200ish, it's not working and its a used car they dont know what previous owner did .. I basically said I'll get back to him as they already paid near 500 for this key and its not working I would have thought 500 meant working key.. Anyone got any ideaswhat I should try next?? I have the brand new key they got through my vin. The car does have some stuff codd idk if that might be interfering... Thanks

first time posting to this forum and not sure how to make new post so piggy backing here. Can I just buy an f30 fob and do this or does it need to be a special f30 fob? Thanks.

Same question! I got only 1 fob with my 2013 328xi. What's the cheapest, easiest way to get a new spare fob?
