Help with getting hose off the radiator?
I am currently in the process of replacing the thermostat and hoses but I am so far unsuccessful at getting the hoses disconnected from the radiator!
Any tricks to removing either (upper or lower) radiator from the radiator? |

Pull the metal clip up, then pull the hose away from the fitting. Slight twist and tug should do it.
The metal clip slides into a groove on the Tstat housing and will be impossible to remove if the clip is in place. |

Thanks for replying. I need to replace the hoses and the end that is connected to the radiator is stubborn and doesn't want to slide off! I removed the fan and have clear access. It seems that all I can do is pull until it comes apart. The o-ring must be dirty or something.

Here is a picture. I will just keep tugging and wiggling.
Then there is that tiny fastener, do I just pull the small hose from the radiator hose or is there trick to releasing that fastener? |

Assuming you need to remove that small hose.
I dont think You will be able to take off that little hose with the fastener still attached. An Indy might have a tool to remove and replace the fastener but I just took one off with a small flat head screw driver and replaced it with a screw type fastener since it was all mangled. |

I know to get the hoses off when stuck. Simply put thin flat head in opening and twist a tiny bit.
Initially I was reluctant to use the flathead out of fear of damaging the plastic radiator piece. It is tougher than I imagined! |

You are correct. That connected is not replaceable.
It is this type: Also found a youtube video removing the crimp clamp. You cut it. Still debating whether I want to replace the darn water pump. Took me a long time just to get the darn hose off. Last edited by L4ces; 05-21-2017 at 12:17 PM.. |
