LCI Upgrade?

I currently have a M240i on order, still don't have a concrete build slot as yet but its looking between week 26-30.
The dealer has just given me the option of ordering the LCI instead for £550 ($710) extra however it can't be ordered until Friday and will not know build slots yet.

What do you think? Or is this a no brainer? FYI I'm already 3 weeks into my order wait.

If you like the new dash arrangements and subtle lighting changes then it's an easy choice vs buyers remorse. Since you're buying new, it makes the most sense to wait,, imo. For me, already owning one, I don't see the value in changing to an m240 let alone the LCI m240 we all knew was coming. If it was a night/day difference I may have considered waiting last year, but happy I didn't

You're talking about a completely different model year: 2017 vs. 2018. To me it's a no-brainer: get the 2018. It will be worth more than the $700 or so the price difference represents the minute you drive it off the lot.

I'm not a fan of the headlights but I think it's worth the idrive update. So I would get it

What Viffermike said. I'm in the exact same boat as you and made the choice for this reason alone. At the time you take delivery of the 2018, dealers will be heavily discounting the 2017 models by probably $2-5k which puts the value of your new 2018 at ~$1-4k more after factoring in the additional $700.

At this point, the only reason to move forward with the 2017 is if you absolutely have to have the car sooner.

But he would have paid less originally. He would actually be better off in the sense he would save on taxes and have a lower mileage 2017 vs a higher mileage 2018. Unless this is a lease then who cares. It's a rental. Upgrade at will

I'd order the new model, for all the reasons mentioned above. Or, I'd wait for the new model to hit dealers and look for a heavily discounted leftover 2017.

If it's a lease then exactly - who cares. But I wasn't so much referring to dollars spent as clearly the 2017 will be cheaper if they wait to finalize the purchase until after the 2018 is available for order. I was merely referring to remaining value of the car as the 2017 model will be cheaper as a direct result of being worth less on the open market.

Erm not quite, the OP lives outside the USA, where cars are categorised by the year they were built, so it will still be a 2017 car. What a strange concept huh?

Secondly, UK cars are just about all built to order. There will be no 2017 cars selling off cheap, as there are no unsold cars in the UK. That and the fact that not many would actually recognise the difference between lci or not would make little difference in value between them.

Being this close to LCI date, I would be inclined to wait a few extra months. That said my new 240 is about to be delivered to the dealer next week. I didn't want to wait for new headlights, I can't see them when driving.

Viffermike, on this side of the Pond it'll still be a 2017 car, albeit the second half car. There are two registration releases in the year in the UK, March and August.

I've sat looking at them all night and they are starting to grow on me.

You're right. Pretty sure I'm just going to bite the bullet and wait...

Dead right. Thanks for everyone's input, the way forward is definitely order and wait. Production starts 1st July and the dealer expects first delivery's the end of July so it's probably looking around Week 31-34 collection.

I'm allowed to spec on Monday, currently have AW with Coral on order but now I see there will be a deep orange, almost pumpkin like option, I cant seem o find the correct name for this but it reminds me of the old cinnamon in the E46. What would you get, Coral or Pumpkin?
