I'm on vacation in Medellin Colombia and was taking note that after two weeks I've seen 2 BMW's in a town of 2.5 million folks.

Then as I'm crossing the street I see a silver M235i (Auto trans). Same color as mine back home in the states. Who woulda thunk?

On another topic for those who haven't been to Colombia in a while it's an amazing place. Not one person has offered me drugs or hassled me. As a western male I expected much different. Such a clean city. Great coffee is less than one U.S. dollar. A good local beer is maybe $1.25. A Pizza is $7 in a nice restaurant. My condo with A/C and a kitchen is $32 a night. Uh huh. I digress.

I realize that is the perception based on past history (drug cartels etc, etc.). I expected a lot of propositions on drugs down here. I'm on week three and have not been approached one time.

Can't say that for Mexico, Philippines or Thailand. Then again I'm not into the drug scene fortunately. Cheers.

Hey supernova I´m glad to hear you are having a good time at Medellin which is a great city.

There are a lot of nice cars at Medellín check the IG users medellinmotors and colombiancars. I´ve got an M3 E92 that I´m trading for a 2017 m240 mineral grey.

If you ride bikes and want to explore the countryside one weekend there is a company called Motolombia there that rents R1200GS and F800GS bikes.

Thanks for the tip. I'm heading back to the U.S. in a few days but we'll keep that in mind. I used to ride---back in the day---HD Fat Boy vs. German but I do follow the cool stuff you referenced a bit.

Hi all,

I was recently in Medellin, Columbia, on business, no not that sort! Although customs did take a particular interest in me when I came back to the U.K.

I had been taken out for a very nice meal at lunchtime and as we walked back to the car park I noticed a very interesting looking car in the local BMW showroom, so much so that I had to have a look.

Well this look turned out to be a very expensive lunch!

I ordered a new 220i when I got home. Haven't been given a build date yet, but am so looking forward to driving it!

So instead watch any of these:
- Rosario Tijeres (One of the most excessively explicit foreign movies I've ever seen -- and almost none of it is gratutitous. Incredible camp value.)
- Colombiana (Zoe Saldano. 'Nuff said.)
- La Virgen de los Sicarios (One of the first movies to use HD cameras -- employed here to create an immersive film noir story. Superb movie.)

All are at least partial Colombian productions -- and Rosario Tijeres set box-office records there when it was released.
