Talking How will I handle this?

Well, I pulled the trigger.

This morning, signed and faxed the paperwork for an E90 335i, Sparkling Graphite with black leather/light poplar. Went full-speed-ahead on options - ZSP, ZPP, Step, 6FL, Park Distance, paddle shifters, Cold Weather. The only tough choice was the Steptronic.

It has been roughly seven hours since I pushed send on that fax machine... and I cannot stop thinking about the car. Can't wait until it is here in DC (hopefully after delivery in South Carolina). Until I can take it up to Georgetown Pike, or open all the windows and sunroof and cruise along the GW Parkway, or over to Skyline Drive, or just sit in it and stare and smile like a dope.

How the heck am I going to handle the next eight weeks!?

I'm already climbing the walls after just seven freakin' hours!

I'm not sure I'll make it through this wait.

Thanks to the folks around here who answered questions as I made the deal and jumped in with both feet. Look forward to meeting folks at a BBQ/meet/etc. at some point in the future.

the killer week is when you know your car is in the U.S. and you are just a day or two away from driving it.

Keep reading the forums...i think thats how most everyone gets through it!

Congrats on the new ride!!

Where did you end up ordering from?

For what it's worth, I just picked my car up today - 5 weeks after order. You may beat the dealer's time estimate.

Congrats!

BTW, better start tracking the entire build process. that should keep you busy for a while.

Yep, am eagerly awaiting getting the production number, so I can start calling the 800 number on a daily (hourly? quarter-hourly?) basis for updates.

Psssssssh, you have it easy. Trying going through the agony two weeks apart. Order car through ED.
Drive self wacky tracking production and waiting for ED date.
Get to drive car in Europe
Drop off car and start going through withdrawal for another 4-6 weeks. Laying in your bed in a fetal position going through withdrawal w/ the shivers is not fun!!

All kidding aside staying on the boards, Owners Circle & Wallenius's site will keep you plenty occupied

I thought very hard about ED. I didn't do it for two reasons. First, my best buddy, who happens to live in Berlin, will be here in the States for a good piece of the summer. Second, there was no freakin' way I could handle waiting, finally getting the car, experiencing a week or two of its awesome-ness, and then having to wave goodbye for another two months! You guys who do ED are way more patient than I could be. (Though I do hope to try it sometime in the future.)

Very true. After I ran the numbers for a flight (roughly $1000 in summer), plus what I figured I'd spend on hotels and food and tourist junk and getting intoxed on German beverages, it became less and less of a savings, though.

Besides, I'm hoping to get back over there for Oktoberfest. No way I could wait that long for the car.

Someone just asked about the BMW brochure sitting on on the table in my office. He then proceeded to look at every page, telling me what a great car I am getting. I think my chest puffed up an extra bit from pride. Woo!

Yeah, but if you are planning a EU vacation and buy the car here you are still more of pocket then if you do ED. We spent 18 days in EU and still came out in the black (not by much).
But next time you have to do ED and then do PCD.

Welcome to the club!

To help pass the time, study the manual inside-out so you can tell the CA to save his breath on the new car orientation.

What's bad now is that I'm expecting the CA to get back to me immediately on everything. As if he doesn't have other stuff to do. Why haven't I heard about my credit application? What's going on with my order? How long till I have a production week? When can I sit in the car and touch it and feel it and hug it?

Congrats on the order! Yes, the wait is PAINFUL but you'll make it through and the delivery day is that much sweeter for it. Thank God BMW enables us to track our production and shipping. Perfect for OCD buyers like us.
